Nail Trends for Spring/Summer 2013!

Spring has finally sprung and summer is fast approaching! So what better way to celebrate the warm seasons than by re-vamping your polish collection! Of course like every new season comes a bombardment of new trends but here are those which really stuck out to me:

Beautiful shades of ivory, bottled milk and snowy whites swarmed the catwalks this spring/summer and I’m in love. However, the trouble white nail polish is that it tends to be a bit tricky to pull off. Though never fear, the best looks come from opaque polishes rather than layering sheer coats and lucky for you I’ve found my full-proof 3!

  • – ESSIE, Blanc £7.50

This polish stays true to its name and leaves your nails white as ever.

  • – OPI, Alpine Snow £8.50

Brilliant white to bring out the your brilliant bronze this summer.

  • – Models own, Snow-White £5.00 Boots

Perfect on its own but also great consistency for nail art!

Nail art has always been a little hobby of mine since I figured toothpicks could be used to make dots and swirls, so you can imagine my excitement that nail art is 110% in this season! The beauty of this is that it has no limit, feel free to go as crazy or simplistic, detailed or basic as you like. Here are a few looks I’ve found and am dying to try out this summer.

(tip: floral patterns and glitter tips are especially in)

There will never be a spring or summer where bright neon and sunny shades do not make an appearance. However, textures, colours and tones are a different story. This season keep an eye out for high shine chilli reds, terrific turquoises, rich blues, a range of pinks and (if you’re brave enough) all things neon! A few shades I’m loving so far:

  • – Rimmel, Orange your life £2.99

A stunning combination orange/pink/red which is easily wearable this season

  • -OPI, a roll in the Hague £6.99

Make the hottest days even hotter this summer with this vibrant yet classic shade of chilli red.

  • -Topshop, Green room £5.00 Topshop

The best shade of turquoise I have found. Perfectly opaque and zero shimmer.

Pretty pastels will always be a soft spot of mine, I simply cannot resist a mint green or gentle pink, they just scream spring! Sweet yellows and macaroon inspired shades have caught my eye especially this year and I just can’t bring myself to choose a specific few so here are my top 3 pastel lines this season!

  • – ESSIE
